Eye makeup is worn close to the eyes, often all day, which is why the ingredients that hold pigment in place get as much attention as the pigments themselves.
Powders, creams and liquids each need a different base: binders for pressed powders, waxes for creams, film-formers for liners and mascaras.
Reading the label
- Mineral pigments
- Iron oxides, mica and titanium dioxide do most of the colouring. They are listed by name or by colour index (CI) number.
- Sensitive eyes
- Certification reviews ingredients; it does not test for irritation. Patch testing is still worthwhile if your eyes are sensitive.
