Because lip colour is worn and reapplied through the day, every pigment and base ingredient is part of the review.

- Colour codes
- Pigments are often listed by colour index number, such as CI 77491 for red iron oxide.
- "May contain"
- A "+/-" or "may contain" list covers pigments used across a range of shades. Not every shade contains every pigment.
