Story
Lux Care Brands began as a kitchen-made acne cream that founder Michael Rees created for his stepdaughter during her junior high years. After about fifteen years of refining the formulas and testing them with more than 100 people, a friend's encouragement in December 2023 led him to start the company.
Rees spent more than 30 years as a private chef to high-profile clients in Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, London, and a Scottish castle, and says that background shapes how he sources and balances ingredients. Products are made in small batches in Santa Barbara, California.
Serum No. 1 was a finalist in the Face Serum category of the 2025 Clean Beauty Awards. The brand's motto is "Every Body Deserves Care."
